Pegasus often
comes off in doujinshi as either the butt of jokes or a villain,
so this doujinshi is a welcome change for his fans. From the very
first page of this multi-artist anthology - where he's drawn very
James-Bondish
with his arm around a slinky Cyndia - you know that this version
will be neither ridiculous nor monstrous. The entire doujinshi
(except for the last piece and a short 2 page piece) is set at
the end of Duelist Kingdom, after Pegs has lost the Eye but before
he's carried out by Kemo and Croquet.
The cover happily proclaims, "Pegasus uke instance
99%" and indeed it is, but of course even when bottoming
Mr. Crawford is in charge. Here he's jumped in various ways (and
for various reasons) by Jouno, Rex and Haga, Croquet (sort of),
Kemo, Bandit Keith, Bakura Ryou and then Yami Bakura, Kaiba (who
saves Pegasus from Y Bakura but is then distracted from shooting
Pegasus by Mokuba), Yami (who yells) then Yugi Mutou (who apparently
forgives him (and who apparently reminds him of Cyndia) ... The
book also has a running series of 4coma with Pegasus, Gozaburo,
and Kaiba. The final is a serious piece, the taking of the Millennium
Eye by YBakura, who is driven off by Kemo. (A42)
